Inmarsat's Broadband Global Area
Network - BGAN - is the world's first voice and broadband data
mobile communications service accessible anywhere on the
planet.
Delivered via a highly portable, easy to use device, it is
also the first mobile service to offer guaranteed data rates
on demand.
These innovations enable BGAN to extend the boundaries of
the broadband mobile office that 3G cellular services are only
starting to delilver.
What it does
BGAN enables users to connect via their laptop to their
corporate network at speeds up to half a megabit per second.
You can remotely access all your desktop applications
including e-mail and the Internet via a secure virtual private
network (VPN) connection. You can also make telephone calls at
the same time.

The BGAN service is acessed via a small, lightweight
satellite terminal - about the size of a laptop PC - which is
easy to carry, quick to set up and simple to use.
Who its
for
Its superior performance, portability and ease of use make
it a compelling proposition for anyone who wants reliable
broadband access when working or travelling in locations with
unreliable or non-existent terrestrial telecoms networks.
Coverage
BGAN will provide seamless broadband coverage across most
of the world's landmass. The service is currently available
across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, with coverage
to be extended to North and South America from mid-2006.
With the introduction of BGAN, Inmarsat has established a
new era in mobile communications. The age of Broadband
for a mobile planet has arrived.
